Outsmarting the Clock: Proven Time Management Techniques for Students.

Efficiently managing time is beneficial for all students throughout their academic journey. However, many students struggle with time, between knowing when to spend their time and how long. This blog post will shed some light on how to best manage your time throughout your school year by implementing helpful strategies and skills like prioritizing tasks, organizing calendars, and setting realistic goals. With these three tips, every student can be an expert at managing their time.

Topic #1: Prioritizing

One way for students to excel in time management is prioritizing. Students can best manage their assignments and tasks when they create a hierarchy. You know yourself best, and as you continue. You learn more about yourself. With that, some people enjoy working on tasks they know they need to get done first but have no desire to do( they want to just get it out of the way). While others like to complete a fun or easy task first to get their momentum going. Time management is all about personalization and prioritizing based on your preferences. But of course, tasks that are due first should go on top of the list. With this skill, you will be a pro at time management.

Topic #2: Organizing

Another skill that is essential for outsmarting the clock is organization. Imagine this... You have your time blocked on a calendar, but it's all over the place. You just randomly put your tasks all over the calendar. But with organization, you can effectively and efficiently manage your time. Carefully and meticulously creating a calendar that is organized based on priority and availability increases productivity and ensures that time is being well spent on the goals that were set for the day.

Topic #3: Being Realistic

Planning is good and is even better when a student's goals and to-do's are attainable. Many people (not just students) struggle with setting realistic goals. It's one thing to fill out a calendar with a whole bunch of tasks, and it's another not to get half of the work done. This causes your mind and brain to think that you didn't accomplish anything. However, that is not true. When adding a lot to the calendar, many people stretch themselves too thin and put so much on their plates. But if we set realistic and attainable goals (don't get me started on the SMART goals... lol), then we can feel more accomplished at the end of the day and feel better about our productivity and ourselves.
